‘Elevation’ is the latest EP from London’s soulful dance music duo, 2FOX (aka Max Sinàl, and Ivor Novello Award winning Renell Shaw). Helping them deliver the three sweet and lovely tunes are Laville, Nandi, Sophia Thakur and Afronaut Z.
For context, 2fox have enjoyed over 10 million streams and 350,000 monthly listeners on Spotify who clearly enjoy the duo’s unique spin on eclectic soulful house and if you’re not one of those millions of streamers may we recommend this EP.
The mini album’s title track is a proper party tune featuring a soulful vocal from Laville (who was “discovered” and mentored by Eddie Pillar). This ‘Elevation’ is warm and percussive – classic, contemporary soulful house. ‘Just Be’ is a tad more stately but no less soulful. It’s another dancer with a powerful vocal from Zimbabwean born, UK based songbird Nandi. The EP’s rounded off with something a little different – ‘Mare Street State Of Mind’, a snappy, jazz-fuelled broken beat groove powered by performance poet Sophia Thakur’s captivating story-telling with Laville joining in on the chorus. The three tunes come in the usual mix of mixes.
