Proper soul fans will know a little bit about South Bronx born soul man DUTCH ROBINSON. He was the lead singer on the Ohio Players’ first three long players and has since enjoyed considerable and varied solo success. His ‘Nothin’s Got Me’ and ‘Can’t Get Along Without You’ were popular on the Northern scene while he also starred in ‘Dream of A Lifetime,’ a musical theatrical production about the life of Marvin Gaye. More recently he’s worked with Cirque De Soleil while in 2010 he performed at the opening ceremony of the Montreal Winter Olympics.
In 2013 his smooth soul outing ‘Can’t Say Goodbye’ won plenty of support and now specialist label IZIPHO SOUL have reissued it a 7” single with the equally smooth ‘Ego’ as the putative B side. Both would come under the heading “sophisticated soul” – smooth and sweet with Dutch’s world weary, expressive soul vocal the real attraction… out now!
