DUKE FAKIR -BROUGHT TO BOOK

The FOUR TOPS are one of popular music’s (not just soul’s) greatest groups. Founded in 1953 as the Four Aims, the Tops are still  going strong today marshalled by original member  ABDUL ‘DUKE’ FAKIR. Earlier this year, genial Duke published his memoir,’ I’LL BE THERE: MY LIFE WITH THE FOUR TOPS’. Set to a Detroit backdrop, the book included stories of Duke’s childhood, how he found his love of music growing up, anecdotes about how the Four Tops formed, their early days as backing singers, and their years working with  Berry Gordy at Motown Records.

Tops and Motown fans will be delighted to learn that to bring the book to life The British Library is holding a very special  event, ‘I’ll Be There: An Evening with Duke Fakir of The Four Tops’. The  event is on Mon 3 Oct 2022 and runs between  19:00 – 20:30
