DOWN FOR THE THIRD TIME!

Bobby Caldwell’s 1978 outing ‘Down For The Third Time’ is a sort of rare groove soul classic – so, it’s great to welcome it back in a brand new version courtesy of CITRUS SUN.

You’ll know that Citrus Sun is a UK music collective that first came together way back in 2000 when Incognito’s Bluey Maunick worked on an album with one of his guitar heroes, Jim Mullen. The result was the Citrus Sun long player, ‘Another Time Another Place’. Bluey enjoyed working on the critically- acclaimed set so much that he kept  the connection alive, suggesting that Citrus Sun was “the indulgent and for fun only speedboat, riding alongside my flagship, Incognito”

Bluey and the Sun gang are gearing up to release a fifth long player. Its going to be called ‘Anaconga’ and is due June 14th via Dome Records. As you might have guessed the new version of ‘Down For The Third Time’ is the leadoff single and what a gorgeous musical confection it is! It features sweet vocals from Natalie Duncan and some stunning work from trumpeter Dominic Glover and guitarist Charlie Allen.

Smooth, classy, sophisticated soul jazz doesn’t get any better than this. It augers well for the album, which we believe delivers some more tasty covers including versions of Erykah Badu’s 2008 ‘Honey’ and Ronnie Foster’s laid back ‘Mystic Brew’.
