DOWN AND DIRTY FUNK…

PABLO OJEDA is bass player from Portland, Oregon and he’s a big  part of that city’s vibrant music scene where he’s known for his funky bass licks. Dyed-in-the wool  funkateers might know him from his band Rubberneck who worked with people like Maceo Parker and WAR. He’s also worked with a band called Sabroso who fuse Latin sounds with  funk.

In the pandemic, Pablo started to make music of his own and his  home-recorded EP ‘Gotta Move; was well-received by the funk brigade. Right now Mr O is busy promoting a new single, ‘Dirty Funk’ – a properly apt title. It’s down and dirty with a heavy, slapped bass riff ruining through the track. Helping Pablo deliver is Portland trumpeter Farnell Newton whose horn work gives the track a feel  of  ‘Funkin For Jamaica’ . Though we need to say, it’s not really like that classic – it’s just the  same funky vibe and the same wonderful interplay between horn and bass lines! Recomended!
