New(ish) label EXPRESSIVE RECORDS is set to release its second single – a wonderful soulful dancer that will appeal right across the spectrum. Produced by label boss BEN SMETHURST and featuring a classy vocal from BARBARA TUCKER, the cut is an irresistible foot tapper – ‘Don’t Wanna Lose Your Love’.
It’s a big tune and Mr S has thrown in everything – live strings, piano, driving Latin percussion and a full live horn section. We need to mention that those fab strings are masterminded by a certain Larry Gold – the maestro behind countless Philly soul classics and a key member of MFSB. And let’s not forget Ms Tucker – known as “The Queen of House” for obvious reasons! Ben says: “When I heard Barbara’s vocal on the demo, it was clear that we had a really special track on our hands and we had to go all out with the very best musicians, arrangers and engineers to provide an exceptional backing band to support her amazing vocal performance.”
True to his word, apart from Larry Gold, Brian brought in bassist Robin Lee (Faze Action), horn man Trevor Mires (Jamiroquai, Incognito) and commissioned mixes from industry “unknowns” (!!!) – David Morales, DJ Spen and Toni Economides.
Quite a line up – and it all works perfectly! ‘Don’t Wanna Lose Your Love’ will be released on Traxsource promo today (August 23rd). Full release September 6th 2019 on Expressive Records.
