Earlier this year smooth soul man EUGENE COLE impressed with his sweet ‘Why Are You Holding Back’. The track ( a collaboration with Con Funk Shun’s Felton Pilate) drew comparison with the work of the great Peabo Bryon – it had that lovely, convincing blend of smooth jazz and sophisticated soul.
Now the tune’s back with us in a new mix from the seemingly ubiquitous Nigel Lowis. Eugene and Nigel have called the new tweak “The Groove” mix and indeed, with the tempo lifted a little, there’s certainly more of a dance groove going on – albeit a stately and sedate one! The passionate vocal is still up in the front of the mix. Great stuff and out now!
