ANTON FIG is one of America’s most celebrated drummers. In demand for all kinds of sessions and a TV regular (he was the house drummer on the David Letterman show for 29 years!); he also made his own forays into the recording studio.
Back in 2002 he released a long player called ‘Figments’. The 13 tracker was a limited edition and soon sold out. It’s now something of a collectors’ item and to meet demand, Planula Records have now reissued it.
The album is a complex piece of work but its USP is the extraordinary guest list. Helping Fig deliver his sonics are icons like Richie Havens, Chris Botti, Randy Brecker, Al Kooper, Donald Duck Dunn, Ace Frehley and Brian Wilson.
Soul collectors will also be interested to learn that Ivan Neville is featured vocalist on one of the LP’s funkiest cuts, ‘Inside Out’.
