We’re proud to say that we were the first UK soul media outlet to extol the virtues of the Kansas City based soul ensemble, THE FREEDOM AFFAIR. That was back in 2020 when we posted that they delivered a sound that was “an intriguing mix of soul, pop, funk and gospel that in places reminds me of Rotary Connection while elsewhere (on the sweeter sides) the reference point is the Fifth Dimension.”
Enjoy more of that magical sound on the ensemble’s latest single – ‘Ain’t Gonna Cry No More’. The track is haunting and soulful and features harmonic interplay between the group’s three lead voices – Seyko Groves, Paula Saunders, and Shon Ruffin.
The track precedes the ensemble’s sophomore album (no name yet) which is due next year. The LP will be a follow up to their acclaimed ‘Freedom Is Love ‘ set. In the meantime, ‘Ain’t Gonna Cry No More’ is good to go now!
