Soul labels come and soul labels go, but UK indie soul imprint DOME goes on and on…. in fact this year the ground-breaking label will celebrate its 25th anniversary!
To commemorate, label bosses (essentially husband and wife team Peter and Santosh Robinson) are putting out a wonderful 50 track compilation that highlights the label’s considerable achievements.
The collection is simply called ‘Dome 25 Years’ and after March 17th it will be available via all digital outlets.
The 50-track collection is bookended by the label’s first signing Lulu (with Bobby Womack) on ‘I’m Back For More’ (the Bob Jones mix) and Dome’s most recent signing Simon Law (with Carol Wheeler) with “Morning Love”. The two Soul II Soul alumni are in great form on this brand new cut
Among the many other artists featured are Beverley Knight, Hil St Soul, Dennis Taylor, Beverlei Brown, Incognito, Brenda Russell, Rahsaan Patterson, George Duke, Carleen Anderson, Don-E, Eric Roberson, Avery Sunshine, Anthony David, the James Taylor Quartet, Jarrod Lawson and Shaun Escoffery.
Says label founder Peter Robinson: “Little did I know back in 1992, after working for major labels in A&R during my early career, that it would be possible to survive as an independent specialising in soul music for a quarter of a century. I still can’t quite believe it today. Of course, having had the good fortune to work with so many outstanding artists has had a lot to do with it. We have been blessed.”
