‘Déjà Vu’ is fast becoming a popular song title. There are all kinds of tunes using that “been there, seen that before” French phrase. Latest to get on the old ‘Déjà Vu’ wagon is dance meister RANDY MULLER!
Good old Randy, fondly remembered from his Brass Construction days, has enjoyed a renaissance of late. His 2019 album ‘Welcome To My Life’ was a critical and commercial success while fans will know that (like in the good old days) Randy now also works under the alias BROOKLYN GROOVE MACHINE. You may well remember their ‘Disco Holiday’ – a throwback to the great days of Salsoul and Studio 54 and that’s the vibe on the Groove Machine’s newie…. ‘Déjà Vu’ (that sound familiar?)
It’s a totally new ‘Déjà Vu’ but the feel is old school – old school disco that is. And to confuse us even more there are two mixes… “NYC Saxy” and “Philly Saxy” and, dead right, both invoke the dance sounds of those two great music cities and, yes again, both cuts feature tremendous sax breaks and, wow… what a vocal from an uncredited, leather-lunged lady! Dust down your glitter balls! Out September 4th!
