Even though she’s been off the radar for some time, serious soul buffs who know their stuff won’t need reminding who DEE HERON is. The Jamaican-born singer fronted ‘Real Love’ (the original single version) by DRIZABONE back in 1991 and now has just released a solo single, ‘What Do You Want From Me,’ which is available from iTunes, Amazon and all the usual MP3 download platforms.
The single – which is a deliciously sensual summer-vibed groover – precedes a yet as untitled album from Heron, who has signed to the UK-based 3.1 Records. Says the label’s founder, Roy Williamson: “We are extremely pleased and privileged to be working with Dee and with the release of her new material, we firmly believe quality soul is back with a vengeance and is back to stay.”
