DANCE FOR ASHLEY…

ASHLEY BEEDLE us a real UK soul and dance veteran. He’s been on the scene since the late 80s and he went on to become of the country’s best-known and prolific DJs/producers and mixers – latterly as part of North Street West production team with Darren Morris and his wife, Jo Wallace who also runs Ramrock Records.

As we’ve previously posted Ashley is now seriously ill. In February this year after a 16 hour operation to remove a brain mass, he suffered a major stroke that has left him without any mobility on his right hand side and limited speech. Since then Ashley has mostly been in critical care and his wife, Jo has told us his speech has improved and his sense of humour and resilience has been remarkable with  Ashley defining himself as a survivor not a victim.

Sadly, the on-going diagnosis is that Ashley’s  mobility will not return to his right side and he will be confined to a wheelchair requiring full time carers for the majority of his activities including bathing and getting in and out of bed. To even get to this stage, Ashley and his wife have had to use all of their savings and now need as much help as they can muster.  There is already a GOFUNDME page to help with costs  (: https://gofund.me/a9a14181) and as previously reported the UK soul and dance fraternity have rallied round to help Ashley, with fund raising events.

The latest mega event is an upcoming DANCE FOR ASHLEY gig at the Ministry of Sound (Elephant and Castle) on WEDNESDAY 27th NOVEMBER. The gig will feature a plethora of big name spinners and soul/dance folk including Craig Charles, Gilles Peterson, Fatboy Slim, X-Press 2, Pete Heller, Terry Farley, Eddie Pille, Huey Morgan and Andy Smith. It promises to be a good night for a great cause. More details @ https://ra.co/events/2031138
