Chicago’s redoubtable Dusty Groove set up has just released another real soul treasure – RONNIE McNEIR’S eponymous debut album. A long-time UK soul favourite and now firmly ensconced in the FOUR TOPS, big RON recorded the set in 1972 for RCA and though it did little on initial release it’s long been sought after by both soul cognoscenti and grizzled crate diggers. The eleven tracker is great example of early seventies soul as typified by artists like LEROY HUTSON, J. R BAILEY and DONNY HATHAWAY and you can investigate more at www.dustygroove.com … needless to say – a full review at www.soulandjazzanfunk.com very soon.
