Though few details are forthcoming, it’s being reported that soul and gospel singer D J ROGERS has died. He was 72 and died on Saturday 22nd August.

Born Dewayne Julius Rogers in Los Angeles in May 1948, Rogers became something of a cult soul man in the 70s on the back of albums like ‘On The Road Again’, ‘Love Brought Me Back’ and ‘Love, Music And Life’. Sadly Rogers never quite achieved the success that his fans felt he deserved’ However, one of his songs, the beautiful ballad, ‘Say You Love Me’, has become something of a soul staple thanks to Natalie Cole’s cover.

By the 90s Rogers was focusing on gospel music and his last release appears to be the 2012 collaboration with Renee Spearman, ‘Whoa To Wow!’
