Earlier this week we posted on a new Preston Glass-produced album from ex-Stylistics lead singer RUSSELL THOMPKINS Jr (see https://www.soulandjazzandfunk.com/news/riding-solo/ ) and we commented that one of the key tracks was a cover of the Spinners’ ‘Could It Be I’m Falling In Love’ . We added that we felt it was somewhat spoiled by a cheesy, spoken intro!
Well, someone out there must read this rubbish! The track has now been issued as a single and, guess what, that intro has been edited out so that we just get the splendid song and the lovely falsetto interpretation from Mr T! This edit (some 40 seconds less than the album track ) is now good to go as a stand-alone single. It’s a heartfelt tribute to the great Thom Bell and come recommended!
