Back in summer 2015, SHEILA FORD impressed all and soulful sundry with her Quantize album, ‘Here You Are’. Since then some tasty remixes of key cuts have kept the interest quotient up. Now, the lady returns with a brand new cut … her version of Natalie Cole’s 1977 ‘La Costa’.
After the death of Ms Cole last year, Sheila wanted to do a song to honour her memory and lo and behold the cut is now commercially available. Originally, this new version of ‘La Costa’ was a hard-to-find bootleg created by Will “Reelsoul” Rodriques. Gary Hudgins, DJ Spen and Thommy Davis worked on the mixes and the result is a tasty, jazzy dancer with a hint of the exotic about it. It also allows Ms Ford to show off her jazz roots with some unusual scatting.
As ever, the track comes in a number of remixes, all available on Quantize Records.
