Over the past 12 months or so a new music project , BOLD PARADE has made quite a name for itself – delivering a unique, hard-to-pin-down-sound. It’s cool; it’s soulful; it’s jazzy; it’ s a whole lot more.
The brains behind the project is multi-instrumentalist PAUL MCMAHON. McMahon is a proud Belfast born muso but now works out of London where his greatest successes have been under his alias Crashdaddy though he’s also collaborated with Mark Bell in his band, Bellcrash.
The latest offering from Bold Parade (the follow up to their November album ‘Two Leaves Falling’) is a four track EP, ‘Core’. You can probably guess from what we’ve said that the soundscape is varied and eclectic. The opener, ‘Foundation’ delivers an Afro Disco vibe . The vocalist is Africa’s Yanmife Ajolore. For ‘Proxy 17’ we switch continents to South America for a samba school romp with sparkling horn work form Antonie Veskovski and Jesse Ibidun. ‘Core’ (featuring a vocal from Janessa J) is a moody trip–hopper while the closing cut, ‘The Promise’, is a laid back, downtempo jazz affair with emotion-packed vocal; from Marti Buchanan . Yes, varied and eclectic!
Bold Parade ‘Core EP’ will be released on February 5th 2024 on Suzume Recordings.
