SISTER COOKIE is a Lagos-born, London-based blues singer who’s become a popular fixture on the European festival circuit, and she just can’t wait for things to kick of again. During the hiatus, she’s been working on her debut album, ‘In The Blue Corner from which the first single has just been released.
It’s a rough and tough, old school big blues romp with the intriguing title ‘(You’re Never More Than) Seven Feet Away’. Not sure what we’re never more than seven feet away from but I am sure that the producers have thrown everything into the mix – Buddy Rich-esque drums, wailing tenor sax, punchy guitar chords, booming double bass and a rolling barrel-house piano – but the star is the big tough, for real vocal of Sister Cookie.
