
From Tuesday 3rd to Saturday 14th July, London will host a new music festival that brings together all of the different strands of black music, ranging from jazz, soul and funk to reggae, world music and hip-hop. It’s called INNERVISIONS and at various venues across the capital, including the Roundhouse, Union Chapel, Under The Bridge, and KOKO, you’ll be able to see legendary performers like George Clinton with Parliament Funkadelic, Mavis Staples, Jimmy Cliff, and Leroy Hutson. There’s also a chance to see such noted performers as Lalah Hathaway, Angie Stone, the UK’s own Incognito, Meshell Ndegeocello, Blackstar, Rokia Traore, and The Pharcyde.
Those also taking part include Blackalicious, Fred Wesley & The New JB’s, Cymande, Carleen Anderson, Dayme Arocena, Mario Biondi & Ruth Koleva, Moonchild, Driza Bone Soul Family, The Herbaliser, Rodney P, Soil & Pimp Sessions, Carla Bley Trio featuring Steve Swallow & Andy Sheppard, Daisy Hicks, Christian McBride’s New Jawn featuring Marcus Strickland & Josh Evans, Janet Kay & Carroll Thompson, Bugge Wesseltoft, Henrik Schwarz, Dan Berglund, The Bad Plus, Run Logan Run, and Moon Hooch.
