RAJA-NEE is a Chicago soul singer who (surprise, surprise!) began her singing career in church. Her first big break came when Marshall Thompson asked her to join him on tour with the Chi-LItes and it’s her voice you can hear helping out on the group’s ‘Just Say You Love Me’ album.

Back in 1994 she worked with Jam and Lewis, scoring US soul hits with ‘Turn It Up ‘and ‘Walking Away With It’ but the young soulstress’ career was put on hold as the duo’s Perspective Records hit the buffers!

Last year she teamed up with Nes Powers to front her own music /media company, Nes and Nee, and amongst the first fruits is the Raja-Nee single, ‘Come Get This Love’ single. The tune is a sultry, soulful ballad credited to “Raja-Nee with ThaSaint & Wilfred Frelix”. Don’t know too much about those last two but Ms Raja-Nee offers  a sweet and soulful delivery and what’s good for the Chi-Lites and Jam and Lewis has to be good for us. The tune is already climbing the charts and deservedly so … proper, grown up contemporary soul music. There’s an album on the way too…. May’s ‘The Sovereign of 14742’. On the strength of ‘Come Get This Love’ we’re looking forward to it.
