US reissue specialist REAL GONE music are set to release two major albums in specialist vinyl format.
In March they’ll be making available an album that actually was never ever on vinyl in the USA. Long player in question is BABYFACE’S sound track to ‘Waiting To Exhale’ which fans will tell you features people like Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Patti LaBelle and Chaka Khan. The Real Gone reissue features a newly created gatefold sleeve and comes in limited edition purple vinyl.
The second Real Gone vinyl album is a reissue of the classic ‘Back Stabbers’ from the O’JAYS. This will the first time that this iconic long player has been reissued in vinyl. Again the release is a limited edition.
Vinyl, of course, is all the rage but industry insiders tell us that the next big thing will be…. the CD! Vinyl reissues, they say, are popular but the growing cost (they are expensive aren’t they?) means they’re expecting sales to plateau out soon; then they’ll start to push the CD!
…and talking of CDs, Real Gone are about to issue BOBBY DARIN’S long lost Motown album. The 2 CD package is aimed to tie in with the Anniversary of Darin’s birth, 80 long years ago and we’ll bring you as full review just as soon as we have our copy!
