COLEMINE VINYL…

COLEMINE RECORDS have just announced the imminent release of two new collectable 45s – one from DURAND JONES and the INDICATIONS, the other from THE SAN FRANSISCO TKOs.

The Indications’ 7” pairs two tracks from their last album, ‘Private Space’. They are the LP title track  with ‘Sea Of Love ‘ on the flip. If you know the album, you’ll know that ‘Private Space’ is a sweet, harmonic Philly flavoured ballad with Aaron Fraser in fine falsetto  form at the mic. ‘Sea of Love’ is more urgent and pacey but  every bit as soulful.

The TKOs’ release is a different affair all together – a re-release, if you would, of the band’s 1972 Golden World label 45. The A side was/is a funky mid-tempo instrumental, ‘Herm’,  aptly named for the band’s sax man , Herm Henry. It’s the release’s putative B side though that brings the interest – a cover of Smokey and the Miracles’ classic ‘Ooh Baby, Baby’. It is, of course, a little more raw than the original but it’s still super sweet and it’s such a great song that there just can’t be enough versions of it!  UK’s Ace/Kent also reissued this  song on vinyl a year or so back with the in-demand ‘Make Up Your Mind’ as the A side.  This new TKOs release, by the way,  is on Colemine’s “re-issue” label. Remined.

A quick trip to the Colemine web site will give you all the details – release dates and various special, coloured editions!
