The Christmas releases are coming through thick and fast now and one of the most intriguing comes from (maybe) and odd source – funk and soul veterans CONFUNKSHUN.
The band have been around since the late 60s and their people tell us that their upcoming ‘Home For Christmas’ album is their first dalliance with Seasonal music. We believe that the 12 tracker is a mix of “old favourites” like ‘Jingle Bell Rock’, ‘Little Drummer Boy’, ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ and ‘My Favourite Things’(never really understood what this has to do with Christmas!) and band originals. Lead vocals are down to Felton Pilate and Michael Cooper who adds jazzier shadings to some of the cuts like the aforementioned ‘My Favourite Things’.
Confunkshun’s ‘Home For Christmas’ is released today, Friday 18th December via you preferred streaming/download platform, There are a limited number of CDs available from the band’s website… http://www.confunkshunusa.com/
