CHERRY BOOP AND THE SOUNDMAKERS are a French soul outfit who made lots of friends with their 2014 album ‘The Way I Am’. The outstanding track was a fab reading of Carl Douglas’ ‘I Want To Give You My Everything’. That tune was produced by Philly legend Bobby Eli who drafted in another bona fide Philly icon to help Cherry deliver…. the Delfonics’ William Hart! Magical!
Some of the other cuts on the album had a distinct Northern soul feel and their popularity prompted Cherry’s label ( Légère Recordings) to call in renowned DJ Andy Lewis to work with the group and the result is a cute 2-track 7 inch vinyl and 5-track digital EP. The two tunes are the chunky ‘Malala’ and the thrusting ‘No Answer’ – which now sounds totally different to its original incarnation on ‘The Way I Am’.
The vinyl single and EP will be available on May 24th.
