alt

This year, Cheltenham’s keenly-anticipated annual jazz celebration – described by The Guardian as “one of the UK’s classiest and most eclectic festivals” – is set to run from April 26th to May 1st. Just announced is the full line-up and in keeping with the festival’s open-minded ethos, it proves to be as varied in terms of the range of its performers as previous years.

Headliners from the jazz world include Gregory Porter, Chick Corea, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chris Potter, and Logan Richardson while from the pop sphere come Will Young, rising star, Jack Savoretti, and pianist/singer Ben Folds. Mica Paris, Booker T. Jones, Laura Mvula, Kandace Springs and Paul Carrack head the soul and R&B list while more exotic sounds are provided by Orchestra Baobab, Lionel Loueke, Totó La Momposina and Yazz Ahmed Hafla Band. For those that like their music funky, the genre-blurring Snarky Puppy, Hot 8 Brass Band and Meshell Ndegeocello will duly oblige. With the redoubtable blues troubadours Robert Cray and Eric Bibb also added to the line-up as well as the fusion-esque Steve Gadd Band and famed prog-rock pianist, Rick Wakeman (leading his Green Dolphin Trio), the 21st Cheltenham Jazz Festival looks set to be a memorable one.

Tickets go on sale to members from February 22
nd and on general sale from March 1st 2017.
