SANDY MILL is a singer, songwriter, producer, DJ and percussionist from New Zealand. Her musical CV includes work with people like The Basement Jaxx, Placebo and Boy George while she’s also collaborated with plenty of New Zealand musos including Pitch Black, Dick Johnson, Epsilon Blue and Neil Finn. Her 2018 debut EP, ‘A Piece Of Me’, hit the New Zealand Top 20. And the same year she was the finalist for Best Female Solo Artist at The Waiata Māori Music Awards. More? Well she also works the Auckland DJ circuit and hosts a Bi-weekly radio show called ‘The Taster’ on Base FM.
Right now she’s working on an album project and promoting a brand new single with the very “now” title ‘Socials’. The original mix is a steady and stately contemporary soul groove with a lazy, laid back jazzy feel. Vocals are smooth and soulful while the lyric describes her love-hate relationship with social media – something I’m sure lots of us can identify with!
The tune comes in a second mix – courtesy of the L&T Project. Dance heads will know the project as Lofty (from East West Connection) and Tom Davidson, both of the Chillifunk label. They embellish the tune with a London neo-soul vibe and some tight beats over electro FX.
That said you can probably guess that Sandy’s ‘Socials’ is released on Chillifunk Records who are celebrating their 25th year in the biz – expect more celebratory releases soon. In the meantime check your socials!
SANDY MILL : ‘Socials’ (incl. L&T Project Remix) will be released on February 25th 2022 on Chillifunk Records.
