Though few details have been made available, several US sources are reporting the recent passing of bassist CEDRIC NAPOLEON – best known as a founder member of PIECES OF A DREAM.
Hailing from Philadelphia, Cedric formed the band in 1970 with pals Curtis Harmon (drummer) and James Lloyd (keyboards). Apart from his bass playing he also sang as required. The group became properly established after signing with Grover Washington Jr’s production company which secured Pieces a contract with Elektra.
Cedric left the band in 1990 and went on to become an elite session player working with a who’s who of “names” including Phyllis Hyman, Stevie Wonder, The O’Jays, The Stylistics and Patti Labelle. He also recorded his own solo work, debuting in 2016 with ‘Yesterday Today’.
