BY GEORGE!

CAMILLA GEORGE is a Nigerian saxophonist based in London who delivers a unique take on jazz –  essentially fusing African and Western Music and garnishing it with plenty of other diverse flavours. A  member of celebrated group Jazz Jamaica since 2009, she’s won Best Jazz Act at the Urban Music awards while her ‘Ibio Ibio’ album from last year was critically acclaimed. The album was dedicated to Camilla’s Ibibio tribe of south eastern coastal Nigeria and delivered an earthy feast of stunning jazz brass, horns, keys, bass and sax. One of the focus cuts was ‘Abasi Isang’. The title means ‘God of Earth’ in Ibibio culture and if you missed the track last year you can now catch it in a very special BLUE LAB BEATS mix.

For the mix the Blue Lab team (NK-OK and Mr D.M) create a hypnotic but joyous groove –  jazz melding with deep Afro-house if you would. The remix also features a heady mix of super fresh instrumental parts, including a zinging virtuosic alto sax solo from Camilla George herself and an energised trumpet solo from Sheila Maurice-Gray.

This one is already winning support from jazz  and soul tastemakers and Camilla says: .”As a longtime fan of Blue Lab Beats, I was excited to see where they would take the track. I loved how they still retained the joyous nature of the music and the exaltation of being alive, whilst giving it their own unique chill out club mix vibes. I hope everyone loves it as much as we do!”Out now and recommended!
