Hot on the heels of their last single….the John Lee Hooker sample rich ‘Never Roam No More’, THE BAHAMA SOUL CLUB dig deep into Black Music’s rich archive again for a lovely new and atmospheric version of “Ain’t Nobody’s Business’.
The Everett Robbins / Porter Grainger song was first recorded by Bessie Smith in the 20s. Then there was Jimmy Witherspoon’s version before Billie Holiday made it her own in 1949. We’re told that it took a while to get licensing clearance but the German-based soul-jazz outfit led by Oliver Belz have took the Holiday recording and created something quite remarkable. It’s out now on Buyu Records.
