It was, I think, April 2019 when we enjoyed a fab double A sided single from the ever dependable LOS CHARLY’S ORCHESTRA (essentially Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel aided by Bassist Matheus Nova, Guitarist Raphael Delphino and keyboardist Milt Mavrakakis). The A side was ‘You Said’ featuring the vocals of Xantone Blacq while the flip was a cool, strutting instrumental, ‘Brooklyn Nights’.

Well proving that you can’t keep a good tune down, the Charly crew have layered a lovely vocal from Andre Espeut over the top of ‘Brooklyn Nights’ and renamed it ‘Living The Brooklyn Nights’ and it’s quite transformed!

The strut and sass are retained and it’s a real builder and groove of a tune with, I think, a hint of George Benson without the signature guitar! The band’s PR people describe it is as “Toto meets Roy Ayers, Bee Gees and E W& F” … interesting! Make up you own minds when ‘Living The Brooklyn Nights’ wins release on 5th June.
