The last few years have been good ones for London songbird S.E. L (“soulful” EMMA LOUISE to her nearest and dearest!). You’ll know and love her ‘Elevation’ which was followed by soul chart hit after chart hit – the biggest being ‘Flowered Tears’. Then, of course, there was her acclaimed ‘Loc’d In Consciousness’ album from which ‘Melodic Harmony’ was another big hit while the album ut ‘Brand New’ won plenty of plaudits and plays too!
Emma Louise is set to continue her upward flight with her new single – a remix project of that ‘Brand New’ song. She wrote the tune along with Leon Nelson and Michele Chiavarini so it will come as no surprise to learn that Italian multi-instrumentalist Chiavarini is on hand to produce and mix the cut. But for a little added zing and zest the co-producer is a certain DJ Spen!
Between them, they craft an uptown, soul dancer with a funky undertow. There’s a killer bass line, swirling rhythms and insistent percussion but the star of the show is S.E.L’s lovely vocal – full of soulful maturity and it’s amazing to hear how far she’s come since her 2010 debut ‘Necessary’.
