Smooth jazz keyboardist BOB BALDWIN has just released his 32nd album as leader! It’s the third in his ongoing ‘New Urban Jazz’ series and a couple of the vocal tracks have been garnering plenty of attention – so why not release ‘em as a single!
The putative A side is ‘Funk In De Pocket’ – self explantory really! Yep it’s a hunk of jazz funk. Tough and gritty, it features La-Rita Gaskin on vocals. The flip side is different altogether. It’s a smooth, slinky ballad, ‘Every Moment’. Sweet melody, memorable hooks and a lovely vocal from Toni Redd. There’s a definite Maysa feel to this one.
