Proper soul fans will be looking forward to June, when stalwart WILLIAM BELL releases a brand new album – ‘This Is Where I Live’ – and, appropriately, the CD will be out on the iconic Stax imprint.

‘This Is Where I Live’ will be Bell’s first major new release in almost 40 years and we’re told that most of the songs were penned by Bell himself. He says: “At my age, I’m 76, I’ve had a lot of experience, and I know what my limitations are, what my faults are as a human being, and I utilize that. When I approach a lyric or a melody, I’m brutally honest.”

Amongst those collaborating with the songs are are Marc Cohn, Rosanne Cash, Cory Chisel and Scott Bomar, while the sleeve notes are being put together by Memphis soul historian Peter Guralnick,
