Good times for Gospel fans… a remix of ‘Optimistic’ featuring Ann Nesby, a super new album from the 3 Winans Brothers (see our recent news stories) and now the news of an upcoming long player from KIRK FRANKLIN.
Sony Music have just announced that the Texan maestro’s new set ‘Losing My Religion’ will be officially available from November. The album comes four years after Kirk’s last outing and it’s being heralded by the release of the single ‘Wanna Be Happy?’ .
The single is a wonderfully rousing slab of optimism which reminds us that “Jesus knows how we feel…. so just let him take the wheel and we will find that elusive happiness”. Kirk adds; “Every human being was wired with the desire for happiness. And we will try different things all in the pursuit of that feeling. With this song I’m saying if you really want to be happy, you have to start with the originator. My goal is to try to lead people to the manufacturer of their souls.”
The song’s dynamism is driven by a female harmony group who channel the melody of the Rev Al Green’s ‘Tired Of Being Alone’…. big Al would sure approve! And you know, even if you don’t get the religious thing, you’ll still be drawn in by the cut’s huge optimism (believe me!) and, we’re told, a soulful house remix is on way.
