THE STANCE BROTHERS is a musical alias for Finnish drummer/producer Teppo Makynen and under that moniker he’s just released a new single, a modern take on soul-jazz, ‘On Top’.
The tune comes in two versions. The A side is led by guitar and flute (the flautist is Timo Lassy aka Diamond T) while the B side features organ and vibes, and this is the one with the truest soul jazz flavour.
The ‘On Top’ single is available from 6th November via We Jazz Records who tell us that the 7″ comes with old school heat-pressed labels and a stylish generic brown sleeve… there you go!
