Latest release from Philly retro label, SOCIETY HILL gives us another chance to get to know RANDY RUFFIN. Randy’s real name is Randy Williams and he’s a big , big fan of a certain David Ruffin – hence his stage name!
Randy’s musical mission is to keep the flag flying for David’s art and by all account his tribute shows to the man are now a big draw – sold out affairs.
Last year we enjoyed Randy’s cover of David’s classic 1975 hit ‘Walk Away From Love’ and he now follows that with an original song – ‘Baby, I’m Yours’. The song (inspired by the Barbara Lewis classic?) was written by Johnny Ingram) and features a full Society Hill production. It’s a sweet ballad – the kind of thing that David Ruffin would have nailed – and Randy delivers convincingly. It’s out now!
