Whitney Houston’s 1999 feisty ‘It’s Not Right But It’s Okay’ is amongst her many classics, so, good to know that it refuses to go away. The aggressive song is back with us in a whole new version from RISK ASSESSMENT.
Risk Assessment is the musical alter ego of London house music DJ and producer Glyne Brathwaite. He’s been on the scene for over 30 years and his music has appeared on top house labels like Glitterbox, Peppermint Jam, Reel People Music & No Fuss Records.
To help him deliver his new take on ‘It’s Not Right But It’s Okay’, Mr Assessment has drafted in Detroit singer, songwriter, and MC MONICA BLAIRE. Ms Blaire’s CV includes work with people like Dwele & Vanessa Williams, Denaun Porter from D12 and Waajeed from the Platinum Pied Pipers. She also has her own acclaimed solo album currently on release.
This new ‘It’s Not Right But It’s Okay’ offers different perspectives on a familiar tune and , after all, that what a good cover version should be, shouldn’t it? It is a “house” version of course, but there’s a proper soul feel about it but with involvement from Reel People’s Mike Patto and Toni Economides you’d expect that!
RISK ASSESSMENT: ‘It’s Not Right But It’s Okay’ is out now via Foliage Records. It comes in its original seven minutes plus mix, a radio edit and an instrumental.
