Back in 2009, GIZELLE SMIITH, fronting The Mighty Mocambos released the incendiary funk album, ‘This Is …’. Raw and tough, it’s now regarded as a genre classic and, thus, the label (Legere) is reissuing it in vinyl. It’s due October 18th and comes with unreleased bonus tracks, rare remixes in limited edition double vinyl.
While we wait, Legere have released one of the focus tracks as a taster/reminder. It’s ‘Coffee High’ – an unrelenting, grinder of a tune. (see what we did there – “grinder”/ “coffee”!!!)
The release (digital only at the moment) also offers a live version of the song – previously unreleased, it was recorded at the La Bellevilloise Club, Paris. We don’t have the date!
