Nominations for the Jazz FM Awards 2020 have just been announced in celebration of jazz, soul and blues music, recognising emerging new talents, established stars and classic icons.
This years nominees include several US veterans: US saxophonist Charles Lloyd, Earth Wind & Fire singer, Philip Bailey, saxophonist and bandleader Branford Marsalis, and blues troubadour, singer-songwriter Keb’ Mo’. Also nominated are realtive newcomers: rising US jazz vocalist Jazzmeia Horn along with a cluster of new Biritsh starss: Four-time Grammy-winner Jacob Collier, Mercury-nominated SEED Ensemble, Brit Award Rising Star winner Celeste, togegher with Moses Boyd, Joe Armon-Jones, Yazz Ahmed, Binker Golding, Xhosa Cole and Ashley Henry.
There will also be the PPL Lifetime Achievement Award, Gold Award and Impact Award which will be given to recipients whose identity will be announced ahead of the ceremony.A new category, Venue of The Year, launches this year with Church of Sound, Love Supreme Festival and Manchester’s Band On The Wall amongst those in contention, which in addition to Album Of The Year and the PRS For Music UK Jazz Act Of The Year will be decided by public vote. (Public voting is open now at www.jazzfmawards.com and will close on Wednesday 15th April at 23:59).
