Con Funk Shun main man FELTON PILATE was (obviously) delighted with the success of Silk Sonic’s version of ‘Love’s Train’ . He co-authored the original with Michael Cooper and the song became a Con Funk Shun mainstay.
For his own latest single Felton offers another sweet and lovely retro groove ‘Here’s What I’d Do For You’. It’s a classic harmony ballad with that special group sound perfected by bands like the Stylistics, the Whispers et al.
By the way, maybe this is a good time to remind Con Funk Shun fans that their quirky, Zydeco version of Curtis’ ‘Move On Up’ is currently available on 7” via Last Bastion. It’s a different flavour to ‘Here’s What I’d Do For You’, showing the soulful versatility of Mr P! In the meantime ‘Here’s What I’d Do For You’ is out now!
