American Soul’ is the title of brand new TV series that debuts on UK TV next Thursday 7th February @ 10pm. It will be available only on BET – Sky 194, Virgin 184, Freesat 140. The show, we’re informed “is the untold story of the sacrifice and struggle to make the dream of the iconic Soul Train TV show come to life. Set in the early 70’s, filled with music, dance, fashion and glamour; we witness the story behind the scenes of the first nationally syndicated Black music show and what happened when the music stopped. The 10-part series takes us on a journey with Don Cornelius and the team in front of and behind the cameras, vying for success; the excitement, the challenges, the spirit, the relationships and the drama. The journeys of these characters collide in a racially charged LA with the odds stacked against them. All they have is each other and the magic of Soul Train.”

Amongst the cast are Sinqua Walls, Kelly Price, Jason Dirden, Iantha Richardson, Katlyn Nichol, Jelani Winston, Christopher Jefferson and there are guest appearances from Micelle Williams, Bobby Brown and Kelly Rowlands who plays Gladys Knight … an uncanny likeness (pictured above)
