New Jersey based hip hop artist, KAMEELAH WAHEED, is acclaimed Stateside for her versatility… artist, producer, writer and performer, she’s worked within a myriad of styles from neo soul to hip hop, to house.
Sample her sound and style via a new EP – ‘America The Beautiful’ EP, with an unusual release pattern – one half of the music on Ramrock Red and the other half on the house label, F*CLR. With flavours of the Last Poets, Gil Scott Heron and Soul Power; 1968 (Rasheed Ali), Kameelah’s music delivers a conscious narrative alongside a rolling hip house beat which she’s dubbed ‘Avant Funk’.
The remixes on the EP come courtesy of one of the UKs most prolific underground production squads. Ashley Beedle, Darren Morris and Jo Wallace from North Street West Studios (home of Ramrock), who offer intriguing vocal, instrumental and dub mixes. They say the mixes are a homage to composers of vintage US cop show themes. The music is good to go from August 13th.
