AMEL LARRIEUX RETURNS

Amel

After a six-year absence, the Philly-born/Manhattan-raised neo-soul chanteuse, AMEL LARRIEUX, returns with her keenly-anticipated fifth album, ‘Ice Cream Everyday,’ which is due for release on October 1st 2013 via her own Blisslife label. The album is preceded by a new single, a haunting and atmospheric groove ballad called ‘Afraid’ which is currently available as an MP3 download from the likes of Amazon and iTunes.

The honey-voiced singer first made her mark as one half of the neo-soul duo ‘Groove Theory,’ who scored a US R&B Top 10 hit with ‘Tell Me’ in 1995. Larrieux then made a stunning cameo in 1996 on the mesmeric track ‘You Will Rise’ taken from the self-titled album by Sade’s backing band, SWEETBACK. Her debut solo CD, ‘Infinite Possibilities,’ followed for Sony in 2000. Since then, the singer has released three subsequent solo albums:  ‘Bravebird’ (2004), ‘Morning’ (2006) and a jazz-oriented set, 2007’s ‘Lovely Standards.’

Look out for SJF’s interview with AMEL LARRIEUX, coming soon.
