Australian singer, songwriter, producer and keys player, ALLYSHA JOY (above) impressed the neo-soul brigade with here last single – a sombre, deep ‘Stay’. We learned that Ms J is actually “big” in the Land Down Under! Both as a solo performer and with the band, 30/70, her work has won support from tastemakers like Gilles Petersen and Huey Morgan while in the States she’s worked with people like Snarky Puppy and PJ Morton.
We’ve also learned that Allysha is preparing a new album – ‘The Making Of Silk’. From that LP, she’s just released another single – ‘Raise Up’. This one’s a little less sombre than ‘Stay’. Indeed we might call it a neo-soul head nodder. The voice is husky and emotive and the lyric, we’re told, “explores theme of love in all its spectrums”. Out now via First World Records.
