LISABEL (BISCALDI) is a jazz and soul singer/songwriter based in London. She’s also a music student, focusing on what might be called “classical jazz”. Alongside her studies Lisabel is working on a possible album where the music will be based on the soul and jazz that is her inspiration.

In the meantime she’s dipping her toe in the water, as it were, with her first proper recording – an ethereal treatment of the Johnny Mercer/Hoagy Carmichael standard, ‘Skylark’. The song was, of course, a highlight, on Gregory Porter’s ‘Water’ album but Lisabel offers a different, simpler interpretation. Opening with sweet harmonies her ‘Skylark’ develops as a simple voice/piano duet with a short vibraphone garnish. The sympathetic piano, by the way, comes courtesy of Nik Kovacevic who’ll be known to London gig goers via his Green Collective Band.
