After a long hiatus, Ohio-born jazz chanteuse VANESSA RUBIN is back with a critically-acclaimed new album, ‘The Dream Is You: Vanessa Rubin Sings Tadd Dameron.’ She’ll be singing songs from her current project during her keenly-anticipated three-night stint at The Pheasantry as part of this year’s London Jazz Festival. She’ll be performing at the Chelsea venue between Thursday November 21st and Saturday November 23rd where her accompanist will be pianist Danny Grissett.
One of the finest singers of her generation, Rubin has worked with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Pharoah Sanders, Barry Harris, Lionel Hampton, Cedar Walton and Grover Washington Jr. She first emerged in the 1990s, recording four albums for RCA’s Novus imprint – including 1993’s brilliant big band LP ‘Pastiche’ – and later cut two albums for Telarc. Though her latest opus, ‘The Dream Is You: Vanessa Rubin Sings Tadd Dameron,’ is only her second album in eighteen years, it vividly demonstrates that the Cleveland singer is still a force to be reckoned with.
