Patrice Rushen’s ‘Remind Me’ is a classic 80s love anthem, and it still sounds good. Lovers of the song will be delighted to know that it’s just been given a fresh, new treatment from BUTCHER BROWN.
The band is quintet from Richmond, Virginia who believe that great music never needs to be labeled as this category or that. The musicians are producer/keyboardist DJ Harrison; drummer Corey Fonville; bassist Andrew Randazzo; trumpeter/saxophonist/MC Marcus “Tennishu” Tenney; and guitarist Morgan Burrs. Between them they concoct a heady music cocktail – a little of everything but all with a jazzy, soulful undertow – witnessed to perfection on their ‘Remind Me.’
The Butcher Boys offer a fresh perspective on the cut and the icing on their cake comes via a lovely vocal from ALEX ISLEY. Yes, the name should ring a bell! Alex is the daughter of guitarist Ernie Isley and her pairing with Butcher Brown is (to revert to cliché) a match made in soul heaven!
This new ‘Remind Me’ comes hot on the heels of the release of Butcher Brown’s five track EP ‘Encore’, which was recorded during the same time as their major label debut ‘#KingButch’ on Concord Jazz. Both out now!
