A RATHER BOLD PARADE…

BOLD PARADE is a new music project fronted up by multi-instrumentalist PAUL MCMAHON. McMahon is a proud Belfast born muso but now works out of London where his greatest successes have been under his alias  Crashdaddy though he’s also  collaborated with Mark Bell in  his  band, Bellcrash. If you know their music (Crashdaddy / Bellcrash) you’ll know it offers cool dance vibes with a soulful/jazzy undertow.

Big Mac feels the time is right for a new project – hence Bold Parade. He’s working with some top players on an album but in the meantime he’s releasing a three track EP, with the lead track being a beefy, brassy, blue-eyed soul flavoured ‘Flowers in the Dirt’ (think maybe Mamas Gun with maybe a jazzier feel). The catchy opus features up and coming vocalist Vytaute, whose melancholy tones add real intrigue.

The EP’s second track ‘Always’ is equally intriguing. Here the languid vocal is down to Marti Buchanan. It’s a sombre , down-tempo groove with soulful, retro flute fills. The mini-album’s final cut ‘Cutting Room Floor’ has  a retro feel too, albeit brassy, retro jazz. There’s a cinematic feel (the clues in the title) and it makes for a sparkling, jazzy finale to the EP.

‘Flowers In The Dirt’ EP out now via Suzume Recordings.
