A FUNKY BREAK IN THE ROAD…

SIERRA GREEN is a mainstay of the New Orleans music circuit. She regularly packs out the Crescent City’s bars and club with her “for real” take on soul and funk. Working with her band, The Giants, we’re told her shows are explosive affairs.

Ms G is currently preparing an album (due in June). While we wait, she’s just released the lead single – a feisty, powerful cover of the New Orleans classic ‘Break In the Road’. Written by Allen Toussaint, the song’s best known in Betty Harris’ 1969 SSS version , though Sierra’s team tell us that her take was inspired more by the Meters’ version.

Indeed this new ‘Break In the Road’ delivers all the loose  funk for which that venerable New Orleans band are known for. This one’s assertive, big, brassy and beefy  and on this form Ms Green sound like a woman not to be messed with! Out now!
